Six contestants will battle it out during the Ka Jive Dance competition grand finale to be held at Robin’s Park in Blantyre on January 30.
Unlike last year when the contest only involved dance groups from Blantyre, this year the competition expanded to Lilongwe.
Three groups, who avoided evictions in Lilongwe namely Salama African Dance Crew, Adobe Dance Crew and The Incredibles made it to the grand finale and will represent the Central region.
In Blantyre three groups also avoided the chop and made it to the final and they are Limbanazo Dance Crew, Twist Dance Crew and Ikuba.
Timescom Business Manager Heggar Kalowekamo said on Wednesday that all is set for the grand finale.
“We are looking forward to nothing but the best during the grand finale come January 30. It’s been a long journey but now it’s time to crown the winner,” said Kalowekamo.
Last year the winners Metics Dance Crew received K1 million but this year the winner is set to walk away with K1.5 million.
“Apart from sampling the dances from the six contestants, we will also have guest artists and they include Dan Lu, Piksy, Annie Matumbi and Nepman,” said Kalowekamo.
Airtel Malawi is the biggest sponsor of the competition which is being spearheaded by Times Group through Times Television under the slogan Tivine Zimenezi.
Airtel Malawi’s Brands and Communications Manager, Isabel Kachinjika said recently that the sponsorship is one way of promoting talent.
“As Airtel, we believe in empowering people to be able to live their dreams. That’s why we have also been involved in this competition.
Ka Jive Dance contest allows people to be indentified and awarded for their skills. Last season we came in towards the end of the competition. This season we have been there from the start,” said Kachinjika.
Kalowekamo described the dance competition as a lifetime opportunity for dancers to display their various dance moves to the nation with the show set to be broadcast live on Times Television.
