The TNM Super League title race reaches climax this afternoon as contenders Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers face tricky assignments.

Leaders Bullets, who have gone two consecutive matches without a win in the league, will face Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium.

As it stands, it is a three-horse race involving Bullets, Silver and Mighty Wanderers. The Nomads face relegation-threatened Blue Eagles at Kamuzu Stadium Sunday.

One point separates the top three sides as Bullets lead with 56 points followed by Silver and Wanderers on 55 points and 54points, respectively. All the three teams have two matches to wind up the season.

Any slip up for either side in this weekend matches will be an advantage to fellow contenders heading into the final week of the season.

Interestingly, Bullets and KB have contrasting mission ahead of the match.

Bullets Coach Kalisto Pasuwa needs his players to be in right frame of mind and soon after a 1-0 defeat to their bitter rivals, he said his sides still had an advantage.

“We are fighting our own battle to defend the league,” Pasuwa said, who is looking for a third consecutive league title.

KB Coach Charles Kamanga said his troops have a plan to dent Bullets’ title hopes.

“It will be like a cup final for both teams. Bullets want to defend the league but we want to finish in the top eight,” Kamanga said.

The match between Silver and Moyale also promises to be a thrilling encounter. Moyale have a score to settle against Silver, having lost 5-1 in the first round before a 2-0 loss in the FDH Bank Cup.

But Silver Assistant Coach Macdonald Yobe said there was no room for error.

“We want to finish the season on a high. We are building a team and our target is to win both matches,” Yobe said.

On the part of Moyale, they are also on a mission to secure a place in the top eight. The Lions of Kaning’ina are on position eight with 42 points from 28 matches.

Moyale Assistant Coach Prichard Mwansa was optimistic of getting a positive result.

“The players are ready and we hope we will get all the points,” he said.

Action in the league will continue tomorrow as Chitipa United host Red Lions at Karonga Ground whereas Mafco will Ekwendeni Hammers at Civo Stadium.
