FINGERS CROSSED—Chembezi

Be Forward Wanderers defender Chembezi Dennis has passed trials at South Africa Premier Soccer League side, Polokwane City, after impressing during the first three days of his trials.

However, Wanderers have rejected Polokwane’s first initial offer of K10 million describing it as being on the lower side.

Sources indicate that Polokwane want to seal the deal quickly, after Chembezi impressed the team’s hierarchy with outstanding displays.

Wanderers Team Manager, Victor Maunde, said they expect Polokwane to return with an improved offer.

“The executive got an offer but felt that it was not a true reflection of Chembezi’s value so the club decided to ask Polokwane for consideration. They indicated that they will come again with a revised offer,” he said.

Former Flames and Wanderers striker, Esau Kanyenda, who also played for Polokwane and is facilitating the move, was confident the deal will go through.

“I am speaking as Chembezi’s manager. I can confirm to you that the club already agreed with Chembezi some personal terms, including salary and house. That was on Sunday. Then on Monday they [Polokwane] made an offer to Wanderers which they were discussing. So we will see what will transpire,” he said.

If the deal goes through, Chembezi will emulate Kanyenda and striker Muhammad Sulumba who played for the club.

Sources from South Africa suggest that Polokwane will make an improved offer of K15 million which might tempt Wanderers to sell the player.

Nomads signed Chembezi from Wizards FC two seasons ago for K3 million kwacha.
