South Africa-based boxers hope for victory

RECORD—Jackson
South Africa-based Malawian lightweight boxer Sando Jackson is optimistic that he will defeat Thompson Mgidi in an eight-round non-title contest slated for Kenilworth Sports Complex Hall in Cape Town on March 5.
Jackson, 28, claims to have registered five defeats, four wins and two draws but boxrec.com indicates that the boxer is yet to register a professional victory, having lost seven bouts including six via knockouts.
“I am working hard to win this bout. I want to win at all cost to impress my supporters both here [in Cape Town] and Malawi. My fans have been asking for this fight and I don’t want to disappoint them,” he said.
Jackson has been training under coach Abraham Lubisi.
“My coach has been tough on me and hopefully I will not disappoint him,” he said.
He also hailed Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board President Lonzoe Zimba for clearing him to fight.
Jackson last fought on September 26 last year when he lost on unanimous decision to Thulani Mhlombe at Gorilla Sport Studios, Cape Town.
