Third Eye’s growing influence among the youth continues to be noticed, as evidenced by endorsements from the corporate world.
But the approval of South Africa High Commissioner to Malawi, Mama Thenjie Mtitso, is the latest of endorsements that Third Eye, real name Mandela Mwanza, has received in the past few weeks.
The artist is on course to participate in a June 30 show at Bingu International Conference Centre. It is part of the Issa Tour, whose aim is to mobilise the youth for inclusive growth.
The tour started in Mzuzu on May 26 and will end on September 1. The tour will take him to Lilongwe [twice], Dedza, Mzimba, Zomba, Blantyre and Mulanje.
Third Eye has already performed in Balaka.
“I am determined to reach out to my fans across the country but, most importantly, I want to reach out to the youth in Malawi,” he said.
Third Eye is working with a number of organisations in Malawi to implement a financial literacy programme which targets secondary school students
After the Issa Tour finale on September 1, Third Eye is set to launch the Financial Literacy Project with FDH Bank and the Ministry of Education at Lilongwe Girls Secondary School on September 21.
The youth advocate intends to visit 100 schools by the end of 2019.
“Financial literacy is an important aspect of our lives and, once the youth embrace this, it will be easier for them to make right decisions while growing up,” he said.
Apart from his performance on June 30, there will be a number of speakers who include Betty Osman who is Business Development Manager for Good Vision Glasses, Isaac Zuze of Infinity Media and former Miss Malawi First Princess, Nthanda Manduwi.
Third Eye said he would like to share knowledge, especially with the youth, to help them grow into responsible citizens.
“I have acquired a lot of knowledge through a number of initiatives, both in Malawi and abroad. While I will be doing my part, it is encouraging also that I am receiving support from influential people in our society. I am thankful to Mama Mtitso for the support,” said Third Eye, who is a Young African Leaders Initiative (Yali) fellow.
Yali was founded by former United States of America president Barack Obama.
