South Africa’s Banyana Banyana secured the Cosafa Women’s Championship title after recording a 2-1 win over Zimbabwe in Bulawayo Sunday.
After a bright start from Banyana, it was Zimbabwe who had the first chance as Marjory Nyaumwe headed wide of the target.
Zimbabwe shot-stopper Dzingari had to be at her best after 35 minutes as she produced two saves to deny Thembi Kgatlana and Mbane.
However, the South Africans broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time as Leandra Smeda played in Kgatlana, who made no mistake from close range.
The Zimbabweans pushed for an equaliser upon resumption of the second-half, but they were struggling to carve out clear-cut chances.
Zimbabwe pushed for an equaliser and they were eventually rewarded in the 73rd minute as Makore nodded home. That was her 10th goal of the campaign.
