South African Airlines (SAA) says it will remain competitive in terms of air charges and provide affordable fares to its customers.

This was said on the sidelines of the ‘The 5258 Experience’ promotion, which has been running for three months.

SAA Sales Executive Wezi Mungoni said airline business has been good despite the current economic challenges in the country.

She said Malawians, in general, have supported the airline, as they continue to travel to various destinations.

“Business is good. Customers continue to travel to various destinations. In terms of air fares, we have remained competitive. There are times when we are a bit expensive than our competitors and also there are times when our fares are lower than our competitors. So overall we are competitive,” said Mungoni.

She said during the promotion, entries continued to increase, resulting in increased sales as compared to same time last year.

During the final draw, Blandina Kambala emerged the overall winner and got two return tickets to any SAA destination while Gomezgani Nyasulu got two return tickets to Cape Town and Beatrice Kumwenda emerged the winner of two return tickets to Johannesburg.

Five other lucky customers received SAA branded golf shirts.

To enter the promotion, customers were required to fill in an entry form after paying for their air ticket either through the SAA office or through a travel agent.
