“I was calm and composed and this helped me to maintain my focus. I had a wonderful time together with my playing partners. I would also like to thank Standard Bank for supporting ladies golf. This is the first time in two years that the bank has sponsored golf at this course [BSC],” she said.

In the men’s section, Klema Hau, playing off handicap 13, scored 82 gross and 69 net to emerge winner and was followed on second position by Chimdima Mhango who was playing off handicap 11 and scored 97 gross and 71 net.

In subsidiary prizes, Goodwin Chimseu hit the longest drive on hole number two whereas Sam Karuku stunned fellow golfers when he hit the nearest to the pin on hole 12.

Standard Bank Company Secretary and Legal Counsel, Etness Chanza, said they organised the tournament to support women just like the bank supports other noble causes.

“As a bank, we dedicate the month of March to women because the International Day of Women falls on March 8. So we felt sponsoring ladies’ golf during this month would be the right thing to do,” Chanza said.

The event attracted 56 golfers
