South Youth body stitches positions

When National Youth Football Association (NYFA) welcomed some new faces to its executive committee, there was jubilation in its corridors but that left one committee, namely Southern Region Youth Football Committee (SRYFC), fuming because there was a void in some positions.

However, after NYFA’s elections on January 16, SRYFC has moved fast to fill the void, announcing that new position-holders have been drafted in.

They will hold their positions until elections are held at a yet-to-be-determined date this year.

The committee’s general secretary (GS) Skeva Munyapa said they held a virtual meeting during which they filled vacant positions in line with their statutes.

As a result of the meeting, SRYFC’s former vice chairperson Mohammed Ajussa is now the chairperson. He is being deputised by Tione Mhone while Munyapa himself was elevated to the position of GS, with Loyce Mafuta deputising.

Charles Mwanza will be in charge of finances, watched carefully by Ayatu Shukurani and Prince Lewanika, who have taken up the role of committee members.

“These are the new developments at the committee,” Munyapa said.

The vacancies were created following the election of former chairperson Duncan Jumbe, former GS James Sawerengera and former treasurer Gommy Mkandawire into the NYFA Executive Committee as treasurer, general secretary and executive committee member, respectively.
