Southern Region Football Association targets K5m from Bullets match

Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) is targeting K5 million from today’s friendly match between Nyasa Big Bullets and Mangochi Select at Mangochi Stadium.

SRFA Chairman, Raphael Humba, said the match is part of the association’s fundraising drive, aimed at mobilising resources to help in the running of football in the region.

Humba said the league wants to supplement its source of revenue so that it reaches out to all districts in the region.

“We have the districts to take care of and we need money for that. It is not just the regional league that needs our attention. So we need more money and we will be embarking on other fundraising activities to achieve our objectives,” he said.

Humba said the fundraising initiative does not necessarily mean that there is bad blood and mistrust between the association and league sponsor, Masters Security.

He said the initiative will help to reach other areas which are not covered by the sponsorship.

Bullets Chief Executive Officer, Fleetwood Haiya, confirmed that the team will be in the lakeshore district as part of its countrywide tour.

“We have been to the Central and Northern regions to meet our supporters and we will surely be in Mangochi to play Mangochi Select. It will also be an opportunity to meet our beloved fans,” Haiya said.

Bullets will be going into the match after playing against Karonga United and Chitipa United last weekend, with the People’s Team winning 1-0 and 4-1 respectively.

Mangochi Select are also competitive, having held Be Forward Wanderers to a 1-1 draw some three weeks ago.
