Sozobal identifies representatives

Southern Zone Basketball League (Sozobal) has identified its representatives to this year’s national basketball championship set for next month.

Sozobal champions Bricks, Magang’a and Crazy Warriors will represent the zone at the finals. The dates for the finals and venue will be announced later.

Sozobal publicity secretary, Kondwani Kabowa, said they will not hold separate qualifiers to identify the zone’s representatives.

“We feel the play-offs were enough. We are happy with how the teams performed during the play-offs. They were impressive and strong. We have the confidence that they will do well at national finals,” he said.

Kabowa asked the teams to work hard at national finals.

“They need to continue training so that a team from Sozobal should win the national championship,” he said.

The three teams were identified on Saturday at Blantyre Youth Centre after rigorous play-offs.

Bricks retained the Sozobal championship after beating rivals Magang’a 61-44. In a third-place match, Crazy Warriors beat Poly Bobcats 82-48.

Bricks got K100,000 for emerging champions with Magang’a pocketing K60,000 for the second position. Warriors got K40,000 for ending on third position while Bobcats received K20,000
