At a time when lack of sponsorship is haunting the sporting world, including some big football sides, Sparc Systems has unveiled its sponsorship to Hawks, one of the promising sides in the Nsejjere Southern Region Football Association.

Following the agreement, the Premier Division side would now be known as Sparc Hawks.

The year-long sponsorship is worth K5 million and is subject to some conditions, including discipline and performance.

Sparc managing director, Wisely Phiri, said they decided to support the team to help Hawks earn promotion to the TNM Super League.

“This is not the first time we are supporting the team. Last season we also donated money and uniform. We gave them condition that if they really wanted our sponsorship, then they should get promoted but they did not succeed.

“Then they outlined the challenges that had haunted their promotion drive. We felt duty bound to assist them so we entertained their sponsorship proposal which was about K3.4 million. When we evaluated we increased it to K5 million per season,” he said.

Phiri said the sponsorship caters for various activities including transportation, accommodation, food and other logistical requirements.

However, he warned the team to maintain its discipline as Sparc Systems does not want to associate its brands with acts of violence.

“The reason why we have supported the team is because we never heard of any violence or disputes involving them,” he said.

Hawks general vice secretary Mosses Dossi Jnr, said they, were relieved to have secured sponsorship.

“It’s not easy to secure sponsorship nowadays. Some big teams like Big Bullets are struggling to get sponsorship. So we don’t take for granted,” he said.

Sparc officials including Account Manager Boti Nthara and Technical Sales Manager Alena Chiwaya were present during the launch.

Chiwaya said Sparc System Limited was a leading multi-product system integration company operation in Malawi and across Africa.

“We specifically focus on offering support to enterprise IT, Data consolidation and Disaster Recovery Solutions on all the major brands. We also offer customer tailored hands-on trainings for all the products supplied at our training lab,” she said.
