A local registered firm, Sports Promo, has been certified to run sports administration courses in the country.
Promo Director, Geoffrey Tamutamu, said they have received the green-light from the Malawi National Council of Sports to conduct courses so as to help associations and institutions run sports as a business.
“Our goal is to be a leading sports company that enhances sports development in Malawi. Our mission is to offer quality sports equipment, supplies and consultancy services through provision of training, advocacy, research and event management for sports in Malawi.
“We will organise various types of sports, related training to improve leadership, administration and management of sporting programmes .We have a series of training, mentorship and coaching programmes in sports administration, facility management, strategic planning and development, resource mobilisation and investment,” Tamutamu said, adding that they would offer the training in collaboration with other sports associations from within and outside Malawi.
However, Sports Council Executive Secretary, George Jana, said they need to, first, monitor the courses which Sports Promo would be running.
“However, for our satisfaction of the quality of the programme, in terms of delivery and knowledge intake by the participants, Malawi National Council of Sports will insist to sit in the first of each of the courses per topic area that you will put up,” Jana wrote on January 19 2018.
