SRFA Chairperson Raphael Humba and Masters’ Director, Alfred Gangata, Tuesday confirmed the renewal of the sponsorship.

Humba added that he penned Masters to consider hiking the sponsorship from K10 million to K15 million starting from next season.

He said it was important to consider the increase to make the league competitive.

“On Monday, we met our sponsor in Blantyre where he agreed to renew the contract. SRFA is very happy with this development,” Humba explained.

“Let me also take this opportunity to say that Masters have assured the association that it will increase the amount of money come next season. We will hear more during the prize presentation ceremony,” he said.

Gangata said he was impressed with the way the league was administered in the just- ended season.

“I wrote them that my company has renewed the contract and they also tabled various issues about the league. We will see how far we can go with it, but we are surely back this year,” he said.

“We have told them that the prize presentation for the 2016 season will take place in Lilongwe in the second week of February.”

Blantyre United won the Premier Division championship for the region whereas the Division One race awaits a decision over some games that ended controversially.
