SRWB in K2.1 billion water bottling plant project

Southern Region Water Board (SRWB) has embarked on a project to construct a K2.1 billion water bottling plant at Old Naisi in Zomba City.
Once completed, the project will see the firm selling bottled water.
SRWB Infrastructure Development Manager Emmanuel Chirwa said the project is part of institution reforms aimed at boosting revenue.
He said this on Wednesday during a construction site visit for the media.
“The construction is expected to be completed by September this year when we expect to start making available bottled water on the market. They will be packaged in different bottles ranging from 500 milliliters to 5 litres,’’ Chirwa said.
Chirwa said the project will also help to create jobs and uplift the face of Zomba City.
‘‘We are getting the funds from external sources and this is part of the reforms we are undertaking by investing in new projects. In the end create employment for the citizenry,’’ Chirwa said.
The project is being done by SMB General Suppliers in partnership with Kaso Construction Limited.
