St Columba pre-Easter Gospel concert pulls huge audience
By Sam Banda Jnr:

St Columba CCAP Church pre- Easter gospel show in Blantyre pulled a massive audience on Friday.
Despite having other shows on the night including a live recording of a worship DVD by Apostle Enesia Chitheka Louis featuring Faith Mussa at Malawi Posts Corporation Hall, a few kilometres from St Columba, the pre-Easter gospel concert aimed at raising funds to build a church, got an impressive share of the audience.
The five-hour concert brought a strong package of gospel musicians with youthful Shammah Vocals opening the chapter followed by Ethel Kamwendo-Banda and then Great Angels Choir from Lilongwe.
The artists made sure they brought the best on the night to entertain the audience and even forced the moderator of the church Reverend Reynold Mmangisa to take to the dance floor.
Mmangisa hailed the organising team for putting up a good concert that people from different churches as well as families enjoyed.
“The artists have given their best and we have all been blessed,” he said.
One of the members of the organising team Phelire Malongo, said they were satisfied with the turnout.
“Our target was to raise K5 million but we just started reconciling but the tickets we have counted were at K3.2 million Hopefully we will finish tomorrow (Tuesday),” Malongo said.
Kamwendo-Banda, who closed the concert on the night said she was happy to perform at the church.
“As artists, we always want to perform and give out the best. The audience was lovely and the church worked hard putting things to perfection. The platform also gave me a chance to reach out to the people with my new songs as you may recalled I launched three albums recently,” the singer said.
On the night, Kamwendo- Banda offered songs such as ‘Mwatikondera’.
