Stage set for Lulu, Ikwanga

After his performances at the launch of Sam Shaba’s Kukaya project recently, Switzerland-based singer and guitarist Ernest Ikwanga Saturday night performs at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe, sharing the stage with singer, guitarist and producer Lulu.

The two artists also entertained mothers on Mothers’ Day but, now, it is time to give people a different musical package with a dosage of afro-pop and jazz.

Ikwanga said Thursday that the show is titled ‘Homecoming Concert’ because he is back home, having been out for some time.

“I am still based in Switzerland but I am back for show time. I have been here for close to three weeks now and have performed in some shows but this is the main one,” the Mafilika member said.

He said he has held a lot of shows in Switzerland but now he wants to entertain people here.

“I want to be doing shows every year. There are new songs I have and would want people to sample and, again, I want, through these shows, to connect with the fans,” Ikwanga said.

Lulu said he was prepared for the concert and that he was happy to perform with Ikwanga after a long time.

“We were together on Mothers’ Day when we gave mothers at Bwaila a treat and now we are giving people something different,” he said.
