Stage set for singer Favoured Martha
Gospel singer Favoured Martha real name Favoured Martha this weekend takes to the stage as she launches a double – a CD and DVD for her second album titled Yehova Musavomeleze.
The singer who has impressed many with her songs as well as stage acts continues to show progress in her solo work and she says she is determined to do more.
Favoured Martha said she is prepared for the double launch which starts tomorrow afternoon at Gymkhana Club in Zomba before trekking to Robin’s Park Hall in Blantyre on Sunday and then later on June 28, the launch goes to ICA Marquee in Lilongwe.
“I have been waiting for this weekend, it’s been long but I thank God that everything is in order. I just want to urge people to come in large numbers and be blessed with songs from my new album,” said the gospel musician.
Currently serving as Musicians Union of Malawi (Mum) vice president, Favoured Martha said she decided to go for a double launch having received an overwhelming response from the people.
And with gospel concerts becoming predictable and featuring the same cast, the singer said her shows this weekend are unique in that she will be unveiling a package of her new album as well as music videos.
“People should brace for surprises this weekend. The shows this weekend are different. I do not want to say much but if you want to be blessed and be entertained then the best is to patronise the shows,” she said.
Favoured Martha said her journey in music has not been easy as she has had to move through thick and thin but she is all praise to God that today she has two albums to her credit.
“In every journey you meet challenges and all I can say is it has not been easy but God has been faithful and has shown me the way and now here I am with my new album,” said the singer.
She described her new album as another master piece following up her first solo album Ondikonda Ndili Naye.
“I have sold so many copies with my second album, I never saw this coming but I just want to thank God for the talent. The support I receive from people continues to motivate me to compose more mature songs,” said Favoured Martha.
The award winning musician rose to fame after coming out with her colleague Mwayi Kalolokesya starring as Favoured Sisters.
Their album Moyo Wanga impressed many before Favoured Martha went solo.
The country today is still in the dark as to why the two parted ways and so many stories have been created as regards Favoured Sisters disbandment.
However during the launch of Favoured Martha’s debut album, the duo performed together where they showed that there was no bad blood among them.
The shows this weekend will be spiced up by performances from other artists and they include Prophets of Vision, Princess Chitsulo, Grace Chinga, Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Allan Chirwa, Thocco Katimba, Limbani Simenti, Kamuzu Barracks Gospel Singers, Mlaka Maliro, Evance Meleka, Peter Uyu Mulangeni, Khama Khwiliro, Maggie Mangani and The Great Angels Choir.
Favoured Martha’s album has 10 songs and they include ‘Ababa Musabvomeleze,’ ‘Ondikonda Ndinu,’ ‘Yehova Mbusa Wanga,’ ‘Amandikonda,’ ‘Ndine Odala,’ ‘Osunga Moyo,’ ‘Uko Kumwamba,’ ‘Mau Otsiliza,’ and ‘Zochimwa pa mtanda.’
The album was recorded at Groove Magic Studio in Blantyre by renowned producer and musician Joseph Tembo.
The singer, said the DVD also has 10 songs and watching the music video of the song ‘Ababa Musabvomeleze,’ one has a picture that the musician has taken her time as seen in the quality of the picture and the sound.
