Lilongwe-based Premier Division side, Tiyuni FC, have parted ways with head coach, Stan Chirwa, due to poor performance.

The Chipuku Central Region Football Association (CRFA) league side had tasked Chirwa with earning the club TNM Super League promotion.

But recent results have been poor with the team losing three consecutive games.

Chirwa yesterday confirmed his sacking, saying he had no grudges with the team’s officials.

“I enjoyed my time working with the team. I tried everything to make the team stronger. I wish them all the best in the remaining games of the season,” the former Silver Strikers’ coach said.

Over the weekend, Tiyuni lost 0-1 to leaders, Airborne Rangers, just a week after losing 2-0 away to Nambuma United.

Tiyuni Investment Managing Director, Kamphinda Gowa Nyasulu, said yesterday his team will hire a new coach.

“By Wednesday [today], we will have a new coach because we are still discussing some terms,” he said.

Reports suggest that the club had earmarked former Silver midfielder, Peter Mgangira, as the next coach on an interim basis to be assisted by former Nyasa Big Bullets’ forward, Andrew Chikhosi.

Tiyuni are on position 10 on the log table with 39 points, 14 points behind Airborne, who lead with 53 points from 27 games followed by Masters Security and TN Stars on 50 and 48 points, respectively.

Tiyuni FC, who bought Maicc FC’s Premier Division status, was unveiled in May in Lilongwe.
