Standard Bank gets best bank accolade

Standard Bank Malawi has been voted as the best bank in the country at the 2020 African Banking Awards hosted by EMEA Finance.

The awards, of which 2020 was the 13th edition, highlight the innovations and inspiring changes happening within the continental financial community especially by commercial and investment banks as well as brokers and asset managers.

EMEA Finance is a periodical leading source of information for the finance industry in Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.

Its coverage is dedicated to reporting financial news, events and analyses influencing the regional and global financial industry.

According to EMEA Finance, this year’s awards focused on banks and financial institutions that have withstood the effects of Covid-19 on economies and businesses to still come up with impressive initiatives that have supported customers and communities to push for realise their dreams.

Standard Bank Chief Executive, William le Roux, attributed the recognition to the bank’s distinct way of engaging its clients and stakeholders in building sustainable communities through inclusive development.

“Standard Bank accepts this recognition with gratitude because it demonstrates the commitment our people must achieve our purpose of driving Malawi’s growth.

“We have immense experience and expertise in the market and internationally which enables us to respond to the real needs of our customers. In a market with many capable banks and a strong financial pedigree, recognition of this sort is humbling and requires of us to continue to seek new ways of meeting customer’s needs.” le Roux said.

He said the recognition further highlights the philosophy that drives Standard Bank’s business model.

“In an economy where uncertainty has crept in due to Covid-19 pandemic, Standard Bank remains resilient and optimistic through its services and products to ensure that customers and communities are still able to realise their hopes and dreams and to achieve their goals of life. Regardless of the tough times encountered by the economy we say It Can Be possible to achieve great things,” he said.
