Standard Bank gives K500,000 to Ecama
Standard Bank has partnered the Economics Association of Malawi (Ecama) for this year’s annual general meeting by contributing K500,000 towards the event planned for November.
Standard Bank head of investment banking Shakil Satar said the bank’s partnership is in support of the discourse on agriculture t rans format ion which the Ecama conference will discuss under the theme; “Agricultural Transformation and Value Chain Development for Sustainable Development.”
“The theme resonates with us as we have been backing the country’s agricultural sector by providing structured trade finance aimed at supporting primary production, agro-processing, value addition and export finance,” said Satar.
He said while agriculture remains the backbone of Malawi’s economy, the sector has faced its fair share of challenges which require the attention of stakeholders during the Ecama conference.

This year’s Economic General Conference, which will be opened by President Peter Mutharika is scheduled for November 13-14 in Mangochi.
