Standard Bank has new Chairperson

Standard Bank plc has announced the appointment of Ngeyi Ruth Kanyongolo as its board chairperson.
She takes over from Rex Harawa who retired as a director at the bank’s Annual General Meeting which took place on June 26, 2020.
In a statement signed by Company Secretary, Norah Nsanja, Standard Bank says Kanyongolo’s appointment is with immediate effect.
“Apart from being a board member, Kanyongolo has over the years also served as a member of the bank’s Board Credit Committee, the Board Risk Committee, the Board Human Capital Committee and Board Technology and Information Committee,” reads part of the statement.
Kanyongolo, a law expert and professor at Chancellor College was first appointed to the Standard Bank Plc board on April 24, 2013.
She has over 29 years of experience in the legal profession.
She specializes in labour law, business law, social security and gender law.
She is also a renowned academic with experience in teaching, research, consultancy and outreach.
