Standard Bank looks at 2016 with optimism
Despite the economic challenges the country is facing, Standard Bank remains hopeful that things would get better.
Standard Bank Malawi chief financial officer Temwani Simwaka was speaking in Blantyre on Friday during a breakfast the bank hosted for 25 outstanding employees and their spouses.
The employees were flown from Lilongwe for an adventurous trip which took them to Game Haven in Thyolo in zomba as to Ku Chawe, among others.
Simwaka said the challenging environment the country is passing through also provides an opportunity for the private sector.
She cited the agricultural, energy as well as mining sectors as some of the areas that could help jump-start the economy.
“Of course the operating environment remains tough but it also presents numerous opportunities which should be exploited,” said Simwaka.
She said the bank, with its hard working and dedicated workforce, is optimistic of meeting its targets for the year.
“We really value our workforce which is key to the attainment of our goals,” said Simwaka.
