Standard Bank says the ongoing Mlimi Alirenji Promotion continues to get positive feedback from the bank’s customers with new entrants being registered on a daily basis.
Speaking during the third draw of the promotion held in Lilongwe on Tuesday, Standard Bank Head of Sales responsible for global markets, Gray Kazima said the bank is satisfied with the response it has received since the promotion was rolled out.
“We are encouraged by the interest that the tobacco growers are showing in Mlimi Alirenji Promotion. This proves that indeed Mlimi Alirenji Promotion is the solution to the issue of farmer income from tobacco, as it is only through Standard Bank that farmers are able to get more money for every tobacco dollar processed through Standard Bank,” said Kazima.
He said the prizes being given out are designed to support tobacco production thereby helping farmers to deal with the high rejection rate.
“Through Mlimi Alirenji Standard Bank is committed to pay more kwachas for all tobacco dollars processed through the bank. We, therefore, expect tobacco growers to take advantage of improving prices to deposit their proceeds with Standard Bank to earn more,” Kazima said.
The grand prize of the promotion is a brand new tractor valued at K16 million. Other prizes that are being won every fortnight are baling jacks, hessian sacks, solar power banks for charging phones, t-shirts and caps.
