Stars confirm Gerald Phiri Junior’s capture
South Africa’s Platinum Stars have finally officially announced the signing of Gerald Phiri Junior alongside midfielders Abia Nale (South African) and Willem Mwedihanga (Namibian).
Phiri was previously in the books of Bidvest Wits; Nale has represented Golden Arrows, Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzbrug United whereas Mwedihanga played for Amazulu and University of Pretoria.
Stars’ General Manager, Senzo Mazingiza, told the South African team’s website that he was confident the trio will add value at the Rustenburg club.
“There have been talks between us and the coach in terms of players we want to bring on board,” Mazingiza told the club’s website.
“I can confirm that we have signed Nale, who has wealth of experience. He will add value to our attack. Phiri is also an exciting number 10, who can also make meaningful contribution. We are hopeful that Mwedihanga will add the required experience at the back. We won’t leak goals anymore.”
Mazingiza also revealed they aim to shortly add one more player to coach Cavin Johnson’s roster.
Stars will resume their league campaign against Orlando Pirates at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace on February 8.— Kick-Off/The Daily Times.
