Stars dedicate trophy to Alliance Capital Limited
Alliance Capital Stars have dedicated the Southern Region Presidential Trophy to their departing sponsor, Alliance Capital Limited (ACL).
Stars defended the trophy for the third successive time after beating Shizaella 38-24 at Blantyre Youth Centre on Sunday.
The champions led 11-6, 21-10 and 29-13 in all quarters.
The team’s exploits came four days after ACL announced its withdrawal of its sponsorship starting next month.
Despite missing key players, Stars were not troubled by Shizaella.
Stars Assistant Coach, Garvey Nyondo, dedicated the trophy to the company for supporting the team since 2014.
“We had to win for the sake of our sponsor who is leaving us. We really appreciate the support we were receiving from the company. They were always there for us, so this trophy is in their honour,” he said.
“We believe in the word of God, and if one door closes the other one opens”.
