Chisale said he was proud to win the competition just a day before celebrating his son’s birthday.

“I am very proud to win this competition. I have been looking forward to winning this competition for a long time. Tomorrow is my son’s birthday, so I dedicate this win to him. This is for my son,” he said.

Chisale attributed his success to playing regular balls.

“The secret is I didn’t play long balls. I was playing regular balls, always on the fairway,” he said.

In ladies category, Lilian Kawaza emerged champion. It was her first ever golf tournament in Zomba.

“It feels good to be a winner. When you are participating in any competition it’s either you win or lose and coming out a winner really feels good,” Kawaza said.

“Apparently, it was my first time to play in Zomba at Gymnkana Club. So when I was coming from Blantyre I was saying I am going to Zomba to enjoy my golf.

“I think that was my secret. I didn’t come here to win, I came here rather to have fun and in the process I came out a winner.”

TNM Head of Region for Southern Region, Francis Mwamadi, said TNM was impressed with the level of competition during the tournament.

“TNM decided to come here at Gymnkana mainly to interact with our customers in Zomba and surrounding areas,” he said.

“We have a capability to offer the customers very fast internet,” he said. “We wanted to let the customers know about the internet services that we offer.”

TNM also held Malawi Open tournament in Lilongwe Golf Club in April where TNM embarked on a phase to promote its wide range of Smart Data products.

Smart Data e-wimax is one of the high-speed internet data products that TNM offers under the TNM Business Services unit which the company acquired from Burco Electronic Services.

Mwamadi said the e-Wimax offers high internet speeds and it is able to achieve download speeds of up to five megabits per second for fixed residential service and up to 4 Mbps for mobile users.

Currently, TNM offers 2 different types of Smart e-Wimax packages and these are Kwathu for indoor users and Panja services for outdoor surfers.
