Steve Madeira in emotional return

By Williams Gondwa:

Former Be Forward Wanderers Team Manager, Steve Madeira, is expected to make an emotional return as his new team, Mlatho Mponela, dates his former side at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre this afternoon.

Madeira resigned at Wanderers in response to supporters’ demands and was picked by Mlatho as Chief Executive Officer.

In an interview Friday ahead of the game, Madeira said he was looking forward to a memorable game.

“It is not just about me. We have to consider what is at stake. We are hunting for three points and Wanderers are also looking for the same. Being a new team in the league, our main objective is remaining in the league, unlike Wanderers, who are fighting for the league title.

“The best way to avoid relegation is collecting points in all our games, one of them being against Wanderers. We are geared to cause an upset in Blantyre and get the much-needed three points. We will also try to win on Sunday against Ntopwa,” he said.

He, however, admitted that emotions would run high as he still loves Wanderers.

“Wanderers is the team of my heart; but I have a job to do. I am a professional and I have to help Mlatho win. I would always want to see Wanderers winning but certainly not this game,” Madeira said.

Madeira joined Mponela at a time Wanderers officials were trying to bring him back after the tense environment at Lali Lubani Road had normalised.
