Silver Strikers dislodge Nomads
Silver Strikers ascended to the TNM Super League summit after beating Blantyre United 2-0 at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe Sunday, through Mark Fodya and Ronald Pangani’s goals.
Silver, who also beat Mzuni 1-0 on Saturday, have moved one point above Be Forward Wanderers with 29 points from 13 games. The Nomads have a game in hand against Moyale Barracks at Balaka Stadium on Wednesday.
In a post-match interview, Silver Head Coach, Lovemore Fazili, said: “It was a tough game but we are happy with the three points. Our target is to win the first-round and, hopefully, win the league title.”
United Caretaker Coach, Safaro Pompi, accepted defeat. His team displayed impressive football.
At Dedza Stadium, Mzuni also lost 3-2 to Masters Security FC yesterday when Mabuchi Nkosi hammered a brace with the other goal coming from Sam Gunda. Mzuni netted through Watson Mbewe and Steve Malimba.
Elsewhere, Chitipa United defeated Mafco FC 2-1 at Mzuzu Stadium yesterday for the rookies’ second consecutive win, thanks to Abel Mwakilama and Christopher Mtambo’s goals. Kalisto Kalinda scored for Mafco.
