Sulom AGM set for May

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) will hold the long-awaited annual general meeting (AGM) next month at a date and venue to be announced later.
This follows Sulom’s executive committee meeting held in Mangochi over the weekend.
Sulom General Secretary Williams Banda announced in a press statement Tuesday.
“It was resolved that the TNM Super League should kick off on April 2 2021 with strict adherence to Covid precautionary measures without spectators in line with the football restart guidelines that were approved by the Presidential Taskforce,” the statement reads.
According to Sulom constitution, delegates to the general assembly are supposed to be given 28 days’ notice.
The meeting also resolved to launch aggressive and consistent revenue generating and marketing activities.
“The Super League of Malawi will introduce Business Development and Operations functions in order to perform the activities effectively and enhance its efficiency in service delivery,” he added.
During the assembly, delegates will have a chance to deliberate on the treasurer and general secretary reports among other issues.
In reaction to the development, Blue Eagles Chairperson Alexander Ngwala said some pertinent issues have been omitted from the agenda.
“We expect to discuss several issues including rules and regulations of the league. On top of that, we should also discuss ways on how clubs will survive as they will not be able to generate enough revenue with football being played behind closed doors due to Covid,” Ngwala said.
The league governing body failed to hold the meeting the entire 2020 due to restrictions due to Covid.
