Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has explained reasons behind a crammed fixture for newcomers Dedza Dynamos.
The TNM Super League rookies are set to play four games in seven days with two weekend fixtures in the Northern Region.
Dedza shared spoils with Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in a 2-2 stalemate on Sunday before going down 2-0 to Kamuzu Barracks on Wednesday.
Their next fixture is against Karonga United at Karonga Stadium today before locking horns with Ekwendeni Hammers 24 hours later at Rumphi Stadium.
Sulom General Secretary Williams Banda said the initial fixture was that Dedza should play Ekwendeni next week but Dedza officials asked them to bring the match forward.
“Before revising the week 24 fixtures, Dedza were supposed to play Karonga on Saturday and then play Ekwendeni on Wednesday. They approached us and we talked to Ekwendeni in which they agreed to play on Sunday,” Banda said.
Dedza General Secretary Mavuto Mugode said they asked Sulom to bring forward their match against Ekwendeni due to financial constraints.
“Much as we appreciate the sponsorship from Salima Sugar but the budget can’t work as it caters for players’ salaries. To spend almost a week in the North will cost us a lot. On the players, I am sure our coaches will try to play those that have not been having game time,” Mugode said.
Dedza are on position eight with 32 points from 20 games.
