Super League of Malawi (Sulom) will elect new office bearers on March 2 2019 during an annual general meeting (AGM) at a venue to be announced.
The league governing body’s general secretary, Williams Banda, announced the date of the elections through a statement issued Wednesday.
“The annual general meeting shall be attended by the 16 Super League clubs who will be represented by three delegates per club.
“In line with article 22 (2d), clubs are supposed to nominate members to the Executive Committee not less than 14 days and not more than 28 days to the annual general meeting, at which election of office bearers is to take place, to Sulom secretariat,’’ reads the statement in part.
Karonga United Chairperson, Alufeyo Chipanga Banda, said, apart of electing new leaders, there are several issues which the AGM needs to discuss.
“For a long time, the issue of juju has been haunting our football and we expect delegates to find a solution to that,” Chipanga said.
Sulom Treasurer Tiya Somba Banda and Vice- General Secretary Thoko Chazema have expressed interest in vying for the presidency whereas legal adviser Gilbert Mitawa is eyeing the vice presidency.
Reports indicate that Masters Security Team Manager, Muhammad Seleman, might contest for the position of legal advisor.
