Sulom has new Vice General Secretary

By Isaac Salima:
Dennis Flao Mwale is Super League of Malawi (Sulom) new Vice General Secretary (VGS) after being voted into office during the annual general meeting held in Mangochi Sunday.
Mwale, former Moyale Barracks general secretary, amassed 23 votes to beat his closest contender Escort Chinula, who got 21 votes, former Mike Tembo finished third with four votes.
The seat was vacant following the firing of Zacharia Nyirenda over financial mismanagement issues.
Mwale has promised to serve the office with integrity.
“My campaign message emphasised on serving with integrity because we are coming from a background where this same position was abused. As an officer in the army, I promise to be disciplined. I will also try to improve the relationship between teams and Sulom,” Mwale said.
Sulom President Tiya Somba Banda said he was happy with Mwale’s victory.
“We only had one representative from the Northern Region and this is good news because the burden on how to handle other operations from that side have been lessened,” Banda said.
Chinula was poised to win the election after reports indicated he had gotten more nominations from teams.
