Silver Strikers have summoned their coach Pieter De Jongh after the Dutchman collected two yellow cards and a red card in four TNM Super League games.
The bankers are so concerned over the high number of bookings the coach has accumulated.
Silver Board Secretary Peter Masiya said they are meeting over their coach’s behaviour to map the way forward.
“We are aware of whatever is happening to our coach. It is a concern to us as a club. We want to hear him out… sometimes it could not be him necessarily as a problem. We want to establish the merits and demerits of the cards. For now that is all we can say,” he said.
However, De Jongh said he is being targeted at the matches, claiming that he did not commit any offence warranting the bookings.
“My sin was only to ask the referee why he did not add extra time equivalent to the stoppages we had during the game through players’ injuries. In reaction, he gave me matching orders.
“I think it is all about targeting whatever I say or how I react to situations during the games,” he said.
De Jongh got yellow cards when Silver drew against FCB Nyasa Bullets 1-1 and then beat Blue Eagles 1-0.
He got marching orders on Sunday when the side defeated Ekwendeni Hammers 3-1 at Mzuzu Stadium.
Football analyst Peterkins Kayira is of the view that De Jongh has to be disciplined.
“To me, De Jongh should have been red carded in the first game against FCB Nyasa Bullets at Bingu National Stadium because I saw him leaving his technical area advancing to the opposition teams’ technical area. What was he doing there? I am not even surprised to hear that he was given marching order in the game against Ekwendeni Hammers in Mzuzu,” Kayira, a former Malawi National Football Team player, said.
Silver are currently second on the log table behind Bullets on goal difference having collected 10 points from four games each.
Third-placed Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have the same number of points from the same number of games.
