Sunbird Hotels join Be More Race
Sunbird Hotels & Resorts has partnered Standard Bank for this year’s ‘Be More Race’ set for Saturday in Lilongwe.
Sunbird Hotels and Resorts Chief Executive Officer, Yusuf Olela, said the firm believes in promoting health and well-being for all, hence the partnership with Standard Bank.
“From the employees to our guests, we encourage a healthy and active lifestyle that results in more productive and happier people. To ensure that we achieve these objectives, we offer free gym use to our in-house guests at Sunbird Capital, Sunbird Mount Soche, Sunbird Mzuzu, Sunbird Livingstonia and Sunbird Nkopola.
“The Be More Race captures the spirit of health and exercise which Sunbird identifies with, hence our commitment to be part of the race,” Olela said.
He said, as the race’s partner, Sunbird Hotels and Resorts will provide water to participants at all watering stations on the route.
Olela added that the hospitality and tourism company will offer special accommodation rates of K60,000 single and K80,000 double from June 8-10 at Sunbird Capital and Sunbird Lilongwe to promote the event.
The event was first competed for last year in Lilongwe and attracted several high-profile individuals such as Lilongwe City Mayor Desmond Bikoko.
This year’s race will start from the bank’s head office in City Centre, through Area 18, Mtandire, Area 49, Area 9, Area 6, Area 47, Area 10 before hitting the finishing line at Bingu International Conference Centre.
In terms of prize money, Standard Bank has staked K2.9 million split into K1.5 million for the first prize, K900,000 for the second, with K550,000 going to the third-placed runner for the 21.2-kilometre category.
