Sunduzwayo Madise, Boma in Region 5 boards

Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) Board Chairperson Sunduzwayo Madise and acting Executive Secretary Shephord Boma have been appointed into African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 boards.
Madise has been appointed to serve in the Budget, Finance, Risk and Legal commission whereas Boma will serve in the Governance, Audit and Ethics commission.
MNCS Public Relations and Communications Officer Edgar Ntulumbwa said it was good for Malawi to have representation at various AUSC boards.
“The appointments are in line with AUSC Region 5 Re-engineering model that was approved by AUSC Region 5 Council of Ministers on 2nd December 2020 and in accordance with article 24 of the Region 5 Constitution approved by Council Ministers on 19th January, 2022.
“We would like to congratulate the two for the appointments. We believe that they have the expertise and knowledge in matters of sports and will contribute to the growth of Sport in Region 5.
“At the same time the exposure and experience they will gain in the commission will assist the country in developing and promoting sports as they will be required to share what they learnt,” he said.
Madise said he was humbled.
“Personally it is an empowering gesture and that during my last term representing Council, I was able, in my own small way, to add value to the region.
“This is a key and central commission in the operation of the AUSC Region 5. This therefore means Malawi will be at the centre of decision making, in the thick of things,” he said.
Boma, who initially was in the Budget, Finance, Risk and Legal commission, could not be reached for comment.
