The 2015 TNM Super League season is expected to bring contrasting emotions this weekend when the majority of the teams wind up their first round assignments.

So far, it has been an intriguing season which has seen the usual suspects dominate the top half of the table and the rookies fighting for survival.

It has also been a frustrating season for giants such as Moyale Barracks and Silver Strikers that have failed to hit the ground running.

With Big Bullets guaranteed of a top finish in the first round as they are four points clear of Mighty Be Forward Wanderers, focus will be on the relegation battle this weekend.

Table anchors Fisd Wizards travel to the Central Region where they face Dedza Young Soccer today in Dedza and Silver Strikers at the Silver Stadium tomorrow.

Wizards have managed to collect only six points from 10 matches and assistant coach Macdonald Yobe said it was high time his side started winning matches.

“We have worked on the mistakes that have cost us matches recently. We want to do well in the Central Region and get points so that we should complete the first round in a better position,” Yobe said.

Dedza Young Soccer are currently on position 12 with 12 points from 13 matches.

The club’s coach, Milias Pofera, said his side was eager to bounce back from a morale-battering 4-1 loss against Azam Tigers last weekend.

He said Wednesday’s one-all-draw against Airborne Rangers was a good recipe ahead of their final first round fixture against Wizards.

“We have been inconsistent this season. We want to give our loyal fans something to celebrate on Saturday. We are looking forward to finishing the first round in style against Fisd Wizards,” he said.

Mzuzu Stadium would also host an enthralling battle between resurgent sides Mzuni and Civo United on Saturday.

Both sides have woken up from their early slumber and are pulling off some crucial victories.

Mzuni are currently 14th on the standings with 11 points while Civo are on position 11 with 12 points.

Second-placed Mighty Be Forward Wanderers would be looking to finish the first round strongly when they travel to Zomba to play Red Lions this afternoon.

Lions would be looking to finish in the top three with victory over the Nomads as they are currently three points behind third-placed Blue Eagles who have completed their first round matches with 23 points from 14 matches.

The league leaders Big Bullets would have to preserve their unbeaten record against Epac at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.

Epac have been inconsistent so far and they are on position 13 with 11 points from 12 matches.

On Sunday, Azam Tigers host Epac at Kamuzu Stadium while Mafco host Kamuzu Barracks at Chitowe Stadium.

Civo United complete their Northern Region assignment against Moyale Barracks.
