Farmers Organisation Limited (Fol) has offered Super League of Malawi (Sulom) a timely relief after signing a memorandum of understanding to sponsor man of the match awards for the remainder of the TNM Super League season.
For the remaining 78 matches, Fol will contribute about K4.5 million as each man of the match award winner will pocket K30,000.
The organisation has replaced Old Mutual, who were sponsoring the awards last season.
Fol National Sales and Marketing Manager Ronald Chilumpha said this was a historic moment as the firm has never partnered football since its establishment in 1980.
“We will be sponsoring the Farmers man of the match for the remaining Super League second round matches. We will be giving K30,000, a trophy to each man of the match winner plus our products. We are here to stay,” he said.
Taking his turn, Sulom President Tiya Somba Banda said, for football to develop in Malawi, there is a need to motivate players
“We are very thankful. We are hopeful that this will now improve our football by helping us send skilful players to the national team,” Somba said.
Meanwhile, TNM Super League action returns this weekend as Mighty Wakawaka Tigers host Rumphi United Saturday at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.
