Mzimba-based fan Zondwayo Mgomezulu has said he will live to remember his World Cup experience, having watched live the final involving eventual winners France and Croatia in Russia.
Mgomezulu travelled to Russia after the rightful winner of a TNM-sponsored Zampira Promotion, Manson Gondwe, nominated him due to a medical condition.
Gondwe won the promotion after he predicted correctly the TNM Super League match involving Silver Strikers and Nchalo United.
Speaking upon arrival at Kamuzu International Airport on Wednesday, Mgomezulu described the trip to Russia as life-changing.
“I have learnt that football is a unifying game. Fans from different countries watched the game together and enjoyed the moments. I was happy to watch people wait until the trophy presentation ceremony in the stadium,” Mgomezulu said.
TNM Public Relations and Sponsorship Manager, Limbani Nsapato, said the trip to Russia demonstrates the company’s commitment to fulfilling its promise to customers.
“Zampira is a life-changing promotion and lived true to its objective of helping supporters to live their dreams. It was a wonderful trip to Russia. We learnt how other countries are advanced in terms of gate management,” Nsapato said.
France were crowned champions after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final.
TNM spent K15million on the trip, which included air tickets match ticket and accommodation costs.
The promotion has two components—the first ran up to June 30 while the remainder will take fans right to the end of the season in December, and involves weekly and monthly draws.
