Supporters to fundraise for the Queens
MALAWI National Netball Team supporters will host a two-day tournament at Blantyre Youth Centre next weekend.
The aim of the tournament is to raise funds for their trip to Uganda where the Netball Queens will participate in Africa Netball Championship in Uganda in July.
The Queens Supporters Club General Secretary, Grace Thipha, confirmed the trip.
“We always follow the Queens wherever they go to give them morale in every competition they take part in. Therefore, the tournament we have organised from April 8 to 9 is aimed at raising K3 million for the trip,” she said.
Thipha said, 15 teams have registered to take part in the competition so far. The tournament has targeted 25 teams.
“The competition has received great response beyond our imagination. For instance, we expected only Blantyre teams to participate, but we have also registered two teams from Lilongwe which have confirmed their participation,” she said.
Media Solutions Company is sponsoring the competition for the supporters who operate under the Malawi National Council of Sports.
