Suspended Masters Security coach not bitter

Masters Security Head Coach, Benjamin Kumwenda, has insisted that he has no hard feelings following his five-game suspension due to poor performance.

Management of the TNM Super League rookies suspended Kumwenda recently, just days after the team was knocked out of the Carlsberg Cup by Michiru Madrid in the round-of-32.

“I accept the suspension because the team was performing poorly in all competitions. I love the team. I would not be able to discuss what went wrong in the media but the bottom line is that the team was struggling,” Kumwenda said.

In a statement released last week by the club’s General Secretary, Zacharia Nyirenda, last week indicated that Jabil Maliro and Goalkeepers’ Trainer, Lyton Mangani, were elevated as caretaker coaches until the end of the first round.

Masters Chairperson, Alfred Gangata, will double as Team Manager whereas Dennis Hauya has been demoted to Assistant Team Manager.

Gangata yesterday insisted that Kumwenda would be reinstated after the suspension.

“He was just suspended but he is still our coach. We will see at the end of his suspension,” Gangata said.

Before the season, Masters recruited 22 players, including Luka Milanzie, Ndaziona Chilemba, Tsanzo Dalio, Khumbo Msowoya, Patience Kalumo and Vincent Nyangulu.

Despite signing the experienced players, the team has found the going tough in the Super League.

Masters are stuck in the relegation zone with 10 points from 11 games.

Apart from Kumwenda, Dwangwa United Head Coach, Macdonald Mtetemera, is also suspended due to poor performance of the team.

Nyasa Big Bullets Head Coach, Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan, was also recently suspended.
