Blue Eagles aim to put behind their TNM Super League 2-1 loss to Silver Strikers last Sunday when hosting Nyasa Big Bullets in a round -of -16 Presidential Cup match at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe Wednesday.

In this fixture, Eagles want to prove that their six-game league winning run, which ended on Sunday, was not a flash in the pan.

Eagles General Manager, Gabriel Chirwa, knows the importance of the fixture, saying his charges have put behind their first league defeat.

“Bullets are just like our wives in cup games. Without a doubt, we will beat them,” Chirwa challenged.

The last meeting between the two sides at the same venue saw Eagles thrashing Bullets 3-0 in a league match last year.

Eagles are unbeaten against Bullets since 2014 when the cops lost 0-1 at home.

On the other hand, Bullets hope to sail through to the quarterfinals in their quest for a first Presidential Cup silverware.

To realise this dream, Bullets have assembled a formidable squad this season. Buoyed by two consecutive victories in the league against Mzuni and Epac, Bullets are in good mood a head of the crunch match.

“We will go flat-out denying them an opportunity to score goals,” said Bullets Team Manager, Rahim Ishmael.

Eagles have been scoring in every game this season with Maxwell Salambula, Victor Nyirenda and John Malidadi Jnr leading the front-line.

On the other hand, Bullets have one of the best attackers in domestic football in the name of Chiukepo Msowoya, Mohammad Sulumba and Mussa Manyenje.

The winners between Eagles and Bullets face Kabwafu FC in the quarterfinals.
