Symon Kamlaka of the Symon and Kendall signature has said that the duo is still intact and active in the industry despite being silent for some time.
Symon, who is currently in South Africa and returns home later this year, admitted that they have been quiet which has forced some quarters to say that the band has closed shop.
“Some have even gone on to say that me and my friend Kendall Kamwendo parted ways. But this is not true, we are still intact and this year we will be releasing an album,” Symon said.
He said the music industry has not been vibrant of late hence taking a break.
“People should just watch the space; we are not a dead wood. We are working and we are looking at releasing a CD and DVD,” Symon said.
He said they will continue embracing local beat which has earned them space in the music industry.
Symon said with music industry not reliable, they are also into other businesses.
“In Malawi you cannot rely solely on music or art so we are into other businesses as well and that is what brought me to South Africa but I also move in other countries such as Namibia,” he said.
Symon and Kendall made a name after releasing Nyemba Nyemba which has done well on the market.
Kendall, who has also been involved in filmmaking, could not be reached for his comment Tuesday.
