Malawi Women’s National Football Team striker and captain Tabitha Chawinga continued with her impressive goal scoring prowess at Paris Saint Germain as she scored and provided one assist in a 4-0 victory over Lille Women on Saturday.
The Malawian doubled PSG’s lead in the 25th minute after Marie Katoto had opened the scoring for the team in the 12th minute.
Sandy Baltimore and Vangsgaard were also on target for PSG.
This is Tabitha’s second goal for PSG Women in the league this season.
In an interview from France Sunday, Tabitha said she was excited.
“I have settled well in the team. I hope I will score more goals this season,” Tabitha said.
Tabitha is on a season-long loan deal from Chinese side Wuhan Jiangda.
Her younger sister Temwa Chawinga plays for the same team.
Scorchers coach Lovemore Fazili was also happy with Tabitha’s performance in France.
“She has started well and I hope she will continue to perform according to expectations. We need more players to play in top leagues to have a strong national team,” Fazili, who guided the Scorchers to their first ever Cosafa Women’s Championship after beating Zambia 2-1 last week in South Africa, said.
Following the win, PSG are third on the log table with nine points from four matches, three points behind leaders and second-placed Olympique Lyonnais Féminin.
Tabitha won the golden boot award when she scored 23 goals in 21 matches for Inter Milan Women—becoming the first African female player to achieve that feat.
PSG Women have already lost one game to Lyonnais.
Meanwhile, PSG Women have been drawn in Group C of Uefa Women’s Champions League alongside Bayern Munich, As Roma and Ajax.
