China-based women’s football striker, Tabitha Chawinga, has said she is happy to be named Chigoli Academy Ambassador for Women’s Football Programme of the Lilongwe institution.
Chawinga, who joined Chinese Women’s Super League giants, Jiangu Sunning, on a two-year deal recently, said she was ready to inspire the next generation of women footballers.
“I’m proud to support Chigoli Girls; sharing my experience of playing football in Europe and China to help inspire girls from across Malawi to become great players and role models of the future,” the academy quote the former DD Sunshine striker as saying in a statement released over the weekend.
The academy offers female players scholarships for them to undergo private school education, access food and medical support and football coaching service.
