Tabitha Chawinga leads Swedish scorers chart
Sweden-based Malawian striker Tabitha Chawinga is on course to win her second Golden Boot Award in a foreign land as she leads the scorers chart with 10 goals.
The former DD Sunshine forward hammered a brace in a 3-1 win over Ostersund DFF over the weekend to help her side, Kvarnsvedens IF cement top spot in the league.
Kvarnsvedens are on top of the log table with 19 points from eight games, ahead of second-placed Limhamn Bunkef on goal difference.
Despite joining the league already in progress, Chawinga is now leading goal scorer.
In an interview on Tuesday, Chawinga vowed to maintain her grip at the summit of scorers chart.
“Things are going according to my plan. I will continue working hard to finish as the top goal scorer again. I have settled well here and my team mates are always supporting me,” she said.“
I know it’s not easy to maintain good form at the top level, but with God anything is possible,”
The former Krokom/Dvarsatt IF player has set herself 40- goal target this season to win the golden boot.
In her debut season while playing for Krokom/Dvarssatts, Chawinga finished as the top goal scorer with 39 goals after playing 18 games.
