Malawi women’s national football team captain, Tabitha Chawinga, returned to scoring ways to help Jiangsu Suning thrash Shandong Sports Lottery 4-1 in a Chinese Women’s Super League clash on Tuesday.

According to www.goal.com, Tabitha was on target once and provided an assist.

The former DD Sunshine striker, who dominated the player of the season and top goal scorer awards over the past two seasons, underlined her class when she made her fourth start in six appearances this season for Jiangsu maintaining her impressive goal scoring momentum for the champions, scoring four goals in five matches.

“Smarting from Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Shanghai Shengli, Jiangsu were desperate to bounce back to winning ways and Chawinga outmuscled her markers to open the scoring in the 15th minute.

“The Malawian raced into the area through the left wing before sending a low pass into the middle for onrushing Ni Mengjie to double the lead for Jiangsu six minutes later,” reported goal.com.

The win means Jiangsu are back on third position with 12 points from six matches.

Jiangsu will take on Changchun Dazhong in their next Chinese league match on Saturday.

Tabitha insisted that it was too early to rule her out of the golden boot race and count her team out of the title race.

“We still have a lot of games to play. We just need to work hard and concentrate. We don’t need to pile pressure on ourselves,” she said.
