Moyale Barracks Battalion Commanding Officer, Dickens Kamisa, has challenged Moyale Barracks FC to win the 2017 TNM Super League championship for the first time.
Kamisa made the call over the weekend when the Mzuzu club elected its new Executive Committee on a one-year term of office.
The officer said he was saddened that no Northern Region team has ever won the Super League championship.
“By virtue of electing you it shows that we have trust that you can take the team to glory,” Kamisa said.
“But for us to achieve this there is need for you to work as one system and not as departments. Work towards one goal—that is to make Moyale Barracks the champions of the 2017 TNM Super League season.”
Moyale came close to lifting the league title in 2014 after finishing as runners-up.
In an interview after retaining the position unopposed, Moyale Team Manager, Gerald Kanje, shared Kamisa’s observation.
Kanje added that the responsibility of winning the title does not rest on the coaches and players alone.
Kamuzu Barracks were the first Malawi Defence Force team to win the league championship for 2016 season.
