Tasaukadala retain Airtel netball trophy
Gerald Tasaukadala Sisters retained Blantyre Rural Airtel Money netball trophy after beating Young Professionals 49-31 during a final match at Blantyre Youth Centre on Sunday.
To qualify for the final, Tasaukadala beat Gulf 52-13 in the semifinal, whereas Young Professionals humbled Snippers 31-18.
In a post-match interview, Tasaukadala Captain, Grace Chimtanda, said they deserved the district trophy.
“We played with our lungs out because we didn’t want to disappoint our sponsor [Gerald Tasaukadala], who was present. He has been supporting us for some time,” she said.
The sponsor, Tasaukadala, challenged his team to aim higher.
Tasaukadala Sisters and Young Professionals have qualified for the regional finals, joining Blantyre Urban champions, Chilomoni Sisters and runners-up, Shizaella.
Blantyre and Districts Netball Committee Chairperson, Khungekile Matiya, and General Secretary, Annie Hanjahanja, said they were excited with the performance of the teams.
National Youth Football Association Chairperson, Mabvuto Missi, who was the guest of honour during the final, asked the players to be disciplined if they are to realise their dreams
