The draw for Pamtsetse Football Bonanza scheduled for this weekend at Bingu National Stadium has thrown some tasty ties.
Organisers of the bonanza, Nzika Flood Response, conducted the draw Tuesday in Lilongwe.
The opening match will involve Mighty Wanderers and Civil Service United at 12:30 pm before TNM Super League champions Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers face off later in the afternoon.
Winners will meet in the final on Sunday at the same venue whereas losers will face each other in the third-place play-off.
Bullets and Silver will meet for the second time in a space of a week after they met in the NBS Bank Charity Shield at Kamuzu Stadium.
Bullets beat Silver 1-0 courtesy of Hadji Wali’s goal.
However, there was no immediate reaction from both Bullets and Silver.
Civil Coach Franco Ndawa said his charges were ready to face any team.
“We are set for the games. We have assembled a good side and we hope that fans will enjoy watching our team,” Ndawa said.
On his part, Nomads assistant coach Joseph Kamwendo said his charges were in good mood ahead of the games.
“This is a good platform for preparation for the season and the players are ready to deliver,” Kamwendo said.
Both Nomads and Civil have signed new players in preparation for the season.
Nzika Flood Response team leader Gift Nankhuni confirmed that logistical arrangements were at an advanced stage.
“We are finalising preparations and it is our hope that the bonanza will be a success,” Nankhuni said.
Organisers are targeting to raise between K15 million and K50 million from the two-day event. The bonanza is aimed at raising funds for supporting survivors of floods and downpours induced by Tropical Storm Ana.
TNM and NBS Bank have partnered Mzika Flood Response ahead of the bonanza.
